Is Barack Obama the new David Palmer?

Many of those watching the hit series "24", wished they could have a real life David Palmer as President. Now their dreams may come true. Many including the actor who played David Palmer are arguing that the fictional President has paved the way for America to have its first black President. There is a an article about it here.

Personally, my money is on John McCain. Unfortunately, the republicans seem to be more interested in infighting than in winning elections. Anyone notice any parallels there?
